I have never been so glad to be lied to! After allegedly calling it quits following 2007’s brilliant Every Scene Needs A Center, Tullycraft are BACK! And if “lost In Light Rotation” is any indication, they haven’t lost their saccharine, grin-inducing pop chops in the slightest—or their flair for obscure indiepop references (you can’t Bis it). 2013, you’re looking real GOOD.

Dressy Bessy (Some of the best indie dance pop ever recorded, and still recording. But then, DB meant one thing to me: Kindercore. If I continue this notebook project, the adventures I had at the Kindercore Festival would be a good one to finally type up. I still listen to Dressy Bessy. I take a lot of fashion inspiration from Tammy Ealom, and I became an obsessive fan of the Apples in Stereo partially because John Hill plays bass for both bands.)

Death Cab For Cutie (So this is where I meet Chris Walla, a coincidence that I had his band on my list when I went to see Imperial Teen and they were opening, in Olympia no less. Bands from Seattle were kinda uncool in Olympia, unless they were really cool. Death Cab for Cutie were not cool in Olympia in 1999. They’re still probably not, maybe just to the kids who liked them in high school and are ashamed to admit it. Alas, Chris provided some of my favorite recommendations in this book, and is one of the few people with a written record of his suggestions (where suggestions from other friends I wrote down, so I can’t tell what my ex-said from something I saw in a magazine). I think it’s beautiful.)
